Here's an interesting and inspiring idea for those of you with a love for fabric and DIY, Lockwood Design's Patchwork Headboard, recently featured in Living Etc. The tufting effect might be difficult to mimic, but you could easily recreate the multiple fabric squares bu upholstering individual "pillows" and mounting them to a headboard (or door, which could be even more affordable).
