While it's easy to be inspired by designers + artists when it comes to home design, why not consider your own life too? We recently decided to do a wall gallery of pictures we had taken over the last few years - family, friends, adventures. As we scrolled through our online photo gallery online, we realized how often one color palette kept coming up and how we had subconsciously been shooting it and also incorporating it into our home design.

We clearly have a thing for orange-yellow. To be honest, we didn't really know that since we don't often seek out home decor in this palette but we seem to use this color combo quite a bit in our home design. Our inspiration actually comes from our own neighborhood and adventures. We enjoy snapping pics of nature + architecture + color around town. The building facades, sunsets and flowers in Southern California are interesting and vibrant. In turn, this color combo had made it's way into our home. We've realized that we've done a yellow-orange kitchen, often seem to buy yellow flowers and, most recently, have introduced yellow-orange pillows into our space.
Take a look through your own photo albums and see how the colors you have snapped inspired decor decisions in your space.

... Or, maybe you just like those colors, so you notice and photograph them when they appear in your surroundings.
When I had the opportunity to redesign my house, I just looked to my wardrobe palette and my favorite colors to wear. I noticed then that I had a prominent and beloved textile hung on the wall with my two very most favorite colors. I started "shopping" around my house for the the things that I liked the most (which AT Cure chapter is that in??) and realized I'd done more or less the same thing -- collected lots of things in the colors I love, but hadn't combined them or showcased them very well.
Then it was just a matter of culling and shopping for some foundation pieces [like a couch] to bring it all together.
Shop at home is my favorite piece of AT advice. :-)
So we should note what colors we like? Great advice.
Yeah! I love the Pannikin. I grew up on that coffee.
I LOVE orange and yellow! My favourite colour ever is an orangey-yellow - or yellowy-orange. It's warm, it's sunny, it's bright, it's GORGEOUS!
