On the eve of St. Patrick’s Day, we’ve got our Irish heritage on the brain, and so in celebration we went looking for some Irish design to share. House and Home, a popular Irish shelter mag, has a large collection of online “home visits” (that’s Irish for “house tours”). Many of these feature converted countryside homes that served in prior lives as lighthouses, school houses, forts, castles, and churches. Here are some of our favorites…
Perhaps in defiance of the country’s gray weather, strong colors are a common theme in these interiors, as are bright and airy white rooms. You’ll also see quirky nods to the history of these homes (like a castle bathroom wallpapered with posters of artwork dating from the castle’s heyday). Lovely original elements, like grand stone hearths and rustic beamed ceilings, are incorporated beautifully with modern décor choices.
