Integrity Block

We never thought cinder blocks could be so exciting? Integrity Blocks are a lower-carbon, direct replacement for concrete blocks and landscape blocks. When they look this good you'll want to build an entire house, not just a bookcase, out of them...

Integrity Block uses a different manufacturing process to reduce the amount of carbon-intensive Portland Cement in their materials, resulting in an energy savings of 40% compared to regular concrete block. The impressive thing is that it's a direct replacement for regular concrete block, meaning it meets the same standards as the conventional material and can be used with the same construction techniques and details.

The blocks look better than concrete block, too, because rather than being flat grey concrete dyed to one uniform color, the blocks show off the colors of the earth they are made with, so each block is different and softly mottled with a range of natural tones.

Retaining wall blocks are on the market right now and are available within the 500 mile LEED radius of the manufacturing facility in Stockton, California. Concrete blocks should be available by the end of the year. According to Integrity Block, the cost of their product is competitive with conventional materials.
