I have been following designer Chris Barrett's work for quite a while and have added a few of her project photos to my inspiration file. Her designs are generally modern and almost always include bright colors. I saw Chris at party a few weeks back and she told me about her new textile line.
The outdoor textile collection is made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic and hand designed with signature abstract patterns. The fabrics are inspired by her upbringing in California - the colors, light, and landscape. You can also find inspiration from California's coastal cities (Big Sur, Cambria, Carmel, Mendocino, Montecito, Monterey, and Ojai) in the textile's patterns.

The color combinations of those fabrics are beautiful, I really love the teal, yellow, navy, white speckle pattern.
Anyone have a source/name for the orange chair in the first photo? It looks so comfy and bright! These are inspiring patterns, too--very summery.
@Transote — that chair was designed custom for a project. Thanks for your comment!
What, btw, is an outdoor fabric? Can someone educate me? Is it just a fabric which doesn't fade in the sunlight and doesn't mildew in the humidity or is it also water proof?
Thanks
These textiles are so very pretty! My favorite fabric is on the pillow in the first photo.
@pinkalbatross:
Outdoor fabric-I guess it could be anything from canvas to plastic. The AP post says it's "100% solution dyed acrylic." I was like, "What's that? Plastic?"
So I looked into the designer's website. The material is known as Securelle. It's polyester or Dacron. Not too sure really. But it's made by a German company called ADVANSA-Advanced Fibre Technology. The company produces all types of interesting materials for commercial/personal use (they make the CoolMax line of sportswear.) Securelle is flame resistant, so considered safe for outdoor areas near the fire, I suppose.
