Is there a particular reason why that one small picture is hung like that on the papered wall? It confused me.

A gorgeous apartment - windows, space and floorplan - congrats for the luck or skill involved in obtaining it. However, I see the 'cool', but I don't see the 'small'. Colours throughout are rather bland (some would say 'restful', I suppose), though it does look deliberately coordinated. All of the artwork on the walls is too small and undistinguished for a place of this scale, e.g., that poor lonely print by the bar cabinet.

I love the windows. And, I think the floors are maple.

Crisp and beautifully put together. Very cool.

Did I used to live in this building??? (Or is this layout popular in Vancouver?) On Cambie in Yaletown? How weird would that be!

I love my own apartment except the carpet. At least it's new. I love, love (and am jealous of) those beautiful blond floors. It really can make anything pretty. Although they did a great job of enhancing them.

The cabinets in the 2nd pict are from
IKEA. I have them, I love the look, and very functional. The quality is good, and they are much sturdier than anything else I've gotten at IKEA.

I second that motion, phaedrus! Very heartening all these Vancouver entries on AT lately. As for this layout, Elizabeth II, it is quite common in many of the new buildings that have sprung up in Vancouver in the last 10 years or so. Friends mine have an apartment downtown with an almost identical layout--the fan shape can be a challenge to decorate.

As for the entry, it's very light and airy. I love the wallpaper, however I feel like I'd like it another room of the house instead.

I love the colors, I don't think they are bland at all! I especially like the bedroom color and would love to know what paint it is! lovely apartment.

I almost would like to see more curviness going on since that outer wall is an arc, because that's just so interesting, but basically I love this.

Paint used in the apartment is:
Living room, Soft Fern, Benjamin Moore
Dining area, Seaspray, Benjamin Moore
Bedroom, Day Spa, Behr
Everywhere else, Monterey White, Benjamin Moore

Tiffany - not in Yaletown but a lovely tree lined street in the West End.

Johnnyslimane - Floors are Scandinavian Maple, rustic grade/random length - we got it for a steal at local flooring auction.

Kidmoe - Our building is about 16 years old, there are maybe 5/6 other oval or curved highrise buildings downtown. We have lived here for nearly five years - renting a bigger unit (also fan shaped) before buying our place two years ago.

Mr Dangerous - Sofas are brown not black leather.

Pixie - Office units are indeed Ikea's modular Effectiv range - we have found them a good buy.

Carolynapplebee - We tend to agree about the Ikea light fixture - it was brought as a cheap stopgap till we find/can afford something we really love. Suggestions welcome...

Amedstudio - Yes we need more/bigger artwork - when we see some we like and the budget allows ;)

Nice. Cozy if you consider 750sf small, but I do like the challenge of the interesting floorplan. Well put together but, again, not particularly special in terms of innovation.

Great floorplan. I like the hints of color and find it calming. To me each room seems to have a special element for focus and to make it special. Very nice.

I have another question about your furniture. Where did you get your acrylic (or glass?) nesting tables? I like how you used the them as a coffee table, I was going to get a larger single piece, but this works great also. I have seen them in a few places, and I am looking for something similar, at an affordable price. From what I have found, these are priced much better in the US than in Vancouver.

I love the floors! Very nice place.

Great job of using ikea items; they totally fit into the space and surprisingly they have this high quality-look. I think your house should be a demonstration in IKEA's new catalog.

Kellarella - Nest of three tables are solid glass (the largest of the three is at the side by the armchair), we got them from a Vancouver based store called Home Delight (in Richmond). About $250 CDN if I recall.

Blandwagon - Completely agree with your IKEA comments - in our defence our only 'large' IKEA items are the office units and the small white unit in the corner of dining area. We consciously choose not to buy our 'investment' pieces i.e. sofa, dining table, chairs, bed, floor lamps, rugs etc, from the 'Swedish Place' or for that matter any 'one place' and they are all from different local stores here in Vancouver or the UK.

Once again, thanks so much for commenting, the feedback really helps us to look at our place with fresh eyes - though I fear this may lead to more home purchases ;) ...
