If you thought that HDTVs were meant for just watching stuff, you'd be surprised to learn that soon, you'll be able to access a gamut of online apps via your HDTV set.
There is a reason why the new 27" iMac can be wall-mounted. It's becoming an Apple TV. We"ve started seeing a Netflix integration with some HDTV sets (LG, Sony, and for PS3s in November, last year for Xbox 360, and upcoming for Wiis), but now VUDU is slinging its library of apps over to TVs, which includes Picasa and Flickr. You'll be able to access your accounts through your HDTVs if you have an LG or Mitsubishi compatible set. This was already available to people who had a dedicated VUDU set-top box, but it's neat to have it now included with the display.
Pandora streaming will also be available for those owning Mitsubishi panels. VUDU has promised a plethora of internet apps that will be released in the coming months, which will be available for customers. Sounds kind of interesting, especially if you think of those 100,000 iPhone apps. Which apps would you like to have on your HDTV?
