Crate&Barrel has just unveiled a new concept that revolves around Finnish textile firm Marimekko. Some brick-and-mortar locations will have an area reserved specifically for the brand's items, and the website will offer a Marimekko category.
Though the retailer has always carried Marimekko, this new venture "is an exciting new opportunity to share our belief that timeless, modern design enhances our everyday lives." The addition brings an expanded selection of Marimekko pillows, kitchenware, bed and bath, bags, clothing, accessories, kids and outdoor goods to customers, all covered in the signature bold, graphic designs that is the brand's hallmark.

Thank you! Crate and Barrel replaced the long-gone, but much beloved Design Research (in Cambridge MA), which was the retailer for Marimekko in the Boston area. Hands down, it's one of my favourite design styles and clearly a welcome addition to the beige on taupe styles of Crate and Barrel.
So exciting! I just blogged about my new (handmade) Marimekko table runner. I've got Marimekko on my mind . . .
If you are ever in the Chicago area try to visit the Crate and Barrel Outlet in Naperville. They have a ridiculous amount of Marimekko fabric.
