We were strolling through Stanford Shopping Center last week when something suddenly stopped us in our tracks. Black. Orange. Skeletons, cobwebs and jack-o-lanterns. Yes, Halloween decorations had already infiltrated the storefront of Pottery Barn Kids.
And it's only August.

Oh dear. At this rate, we'll be seeing Xmas decorations in October.
Holy smokes, this early marketing is getting way out of hand.
Grocery stores here (CT) are doing it already, too.
I've already seen some items in the halloween veign already being displayed but so far, not quite to this yet around here. It's still back to school time for us since most schools out here in Washington St start just after Labor Day.
here in new york, christmas is already being marketed. I live across the street from a costume shop, so it's halloween every day of the year.
I started seeing the autumn decor at least 6 weeks ago. Then again, this year's back-to-school sales actually started before public schools let out in June.
Retail. Blegh.
I think it is too early--but I do know that the Stanford branch of PBKids is one of their style stores where they photograph displays before they go into other stores--ditto the PB store in Burlingame. So that's one reason it's so early.
i am the one "no" vote, but just because i felt like going against the grain.
:)
Well at least they are marketing Halloween. I used to work in a department store and we set up Christmas in August!!! Which meant that Halloween was an after thought.
I don't mind it, only because Halloween creeps up on me so fast and I need prep time.
Autumn decor showed up here a couple weeks ago, which is a hoot in Phoenix -- any leaf that turns color before Thanksgiving has shriveled from excess heat.
I figure the whole point of living here is to ignore seasons, but apparently many transplants miss 'em.
Where is the HELL YES! option?
Well, here in Europe (Switzerland) Christmas decoration starts to come up in the shops by mid to end of september...and Easter eggs just after christmas...
I love Halloween, but super early marketing ruins it by making it dull.
I also love Fall, but I don't like it encroaching on summer.
