Is Painted Woodwork Something That Can Be Reversed?

Good Questions

Q: My husband and I own a 1940s Tudor style home. The interior is a lot of dark wood, as is much of our furniture. I want to paint some of the woodwork to lighten up the house, but hubby is vehemently against it, saying it will ruin the original design. At what point is it okay to change an interior, and is painting woodwork something that can be reversed?
