Q: Is there a good and eco-friendly way to get rid of pigeons? I have pigeons who enjoy spending time on my front steps and pooping there... A LOT. We can't put anything sticky or spikes since we need to walk there every day. We've tried owls, uncomfortable mats, both which didn't work and got stolen. We even relocated their nest and they still came back!

Cage them, feed them organic poultry feed for 2 weeks, then invite your friends over for some "roast squab."
Adopt a fixed feral cat.
Motion sensor noise thingies where the birds like to roost.
Good luck!
get a dog
Eat them - local free range poultry
make sure your steps are free of food sources.
other than that, i've got nothin'. i wouldn't eat city pigeons - they eat some really disgusting stuff from time to time.
Get a recording of a red tailed hawk or a flacon and play it out your window. Try to place the speaker so it reflects off of a building and makes it hard to locate where the sound is coming from. This is the pigeons natural predator so they should clear out if they think a hawk has made your home a regular hunting ground.
Things I've come across as pigeon deterents but have not yet tried myself (I have pigeons that like to sunbathe on my windowsills and balcony and leave their feathers and poop behind): something shiny that moves sporadically, so things like:
- old CDs dangling by a string
- those handheld brightly colored windmills
Please don't relocate nests. It's incredible cruel and with most species it is probably illegal. Plus you could catch one hell of a nasty disease doing so. Pigeons are prominent in areas where their predators have been killed off by pesticides or habitat loss. Learn what you and your community can do to bring back useful predators such as hawks, owls, falcons, and animals that eat their eggs such as small mammals.
That word should be Incredibly, not Incredible. Sorry!
We had a similar problem with pigeons hanging out every night on one of our rain gutters. Squirted them with water from an open window. It's been almost a week and they haven't come back yet.
