Is Your Neighbor's Dial Up Faster than Your Broadband?

Find out with Youtube's Video Speed Dashboard. The online app compares your speed to those in other cities, and states. It gets interesting if you're shopping around for a better service provider.

Video Speed History lets you know past video speeds of YouTube videos you've watched from your current browser at your current IP address. It then takes that data and compares it to aggregate video speed experienced by other users by city, state, and country. It'll also show you what average speed other users in your area using a different service provider are getting. You may find out that you scored in your ISP choice or you didn't, but at least now you have a data to help with your decision.

Unfortunately the latter doesn't give you as much information as we'd like. You'll only get a general average for users in your area using a specific ISP. We want to know exactly what speeds every single person around us is getting. Yes, we know, invasion of privacy, but how cool would it be to find out that Bob next door is getting wicked speeds on the same ISP as you. You could then brainstorm with them to figure out how to optimize your own network. Or you may find that fibre optics aren't as fast as you thought.
