Throughout July, we'll be posting "Adventures and Outings," reader submissions filled with great tips and ideas for traveling with children. Want to join in? Click here for all the info.Names: Isabella (9) and Julian (6) Location: Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.), Canada Favorite Family-Friendly Place To See or Thing To Do Here: Walks on the beach to "save" the stranded snails. The kids love to help the wee snails reach the water so they run along the shore tossing them back into the sea. We also love the quest for beach glass and shells on the quiet family friendly red sands of P.E.I. Best Tip for Traveling with Kids: For the road trip to our destination, I always put together a travel pack for the kids with a map showing our route, art supplies and activities. On the map I mark locations where the kids will receive surprise gifts (really just little treats & trinkets) to help them pass the time on the long 18 hr. trip from Toronto. They really look forward to getting their travel pack and surprises along the way. Favorite Way to Make it Feel Like Home: The works of art the kids create along the way gets displayed in our rental. They love to see their artwork & doodling in their temporary home. An Item you MUST Take With You While Traveling: "Emergency" lollipops. At times when the traveling gets tough a little sugar always helps. A portable DVD player and books on audio are great too. Thanks Debra!
