We've talked about the wonders of using an iPad in the kitchen (noting Anthony had the similar concerns today about waterproofing your gear). There are so many amazing apps. One downfall to using the iPad in the kitchen is germs. If you're referencing a recipe while cooking, you're more than likely to get a few substances on the iPad and case.

The iSkin Duo is a silicone iPad case that comes in almost every color in the rainbow and helps protect you, your family and your iPad from getting sick (if used properly, of course).
The iSkin Duo can be boiled. So, if you're referencing a recipe on your iPad and you get some chicken juice on it, you can simply remove the case, toss it in a pot of boiling water. If the contamination isn't that big of a deal, the embedded antimicrobial protection will do the trick!
The Duo will cost you $50 and is available in Yellow (Soleil), Purple (Persia), Dark Brown (Night Hawk), Blue (Sky), Pink (Glam), Clear (Arctic) and Red (Diablo). See, we weren't joking when we said it was available in almost every color in the rainbow.

so done with all the iPad posts... unsubscribing until the honeymoon is over
i agree.. can you just start an iPad blog..?
Thirded. What can you do with an iPad that you can't do with a smartphone, or if you want to go back further, a laptop? It's a laptop without a keyboard.
I keep coming back to this site hoping for some awesome posts about cool tech projects, but there's more and more Apple fanboyism and less and less actual tech.
Thank you. Keep up the good work bringing kitchen applications of this wonderful new device coming in.
[laptop without a keyboard indeed, it is also cuniform without the mud and stylus, petroglypth without the cave ceiling,... hyperbole anyone?]
I am confused. Is this case just the outside (bumper), or is it a screen protector too?
Just what I need - if it comes with a screen protector.
iSkin makes good stuff - i have used two of their ipod cases on an original and now on a nano ipod.
It's basically a silicon case with a hard plastic faceplate - assuming for the ipad it retains the touch sensitivity.
It's nice because the silicon is easily cleaned, and the faceplate can be Windex'd or whatever you need to keep it shiny!

Unlike a smartphone, the screen is big enough to view a whole recipe at once, and unlike a laptop, doesn't have any keys to gum up with flour, syrup, oil, etc. Its battery life is also about double that of most laptops, and it weighs 1/3-1/4th as much, but that's starting to get away from its utility as a kitchen appliance.
