Here at Apartment Therapy, we try to keep our posts timely and topical, coordinating them with book releases and museum openings and such … but sometimes impatience rules the day. I realize it is only May and that summer blockbuster season won't start for a couple of months, but I am ready for a new Batman movie NOW. Haven't we waited long enough?
You guys, I love Batman. I used to watch the old crooked Adam West television show with my dad, and Batman Begins is one of my favorite films. The entire movie is a makeover montage! What could be better? Also, I think Batman has the best style of all the superheroes: basic black, sleek, incredibly high-tech but elegant. It's no surprise then that countless artists have made prints inspired by the flawed-but-lovable Caped Crusader, and that most of them are awesome. Here are the best of the Batbunch:
- Arian Novier's Super Heroes Painted: Batman from Søciety6 is haunting and sophisticated. It feels like a portrait that Batman might hang in his own home.
- The same goes for the Batman Begins poster from Poster Inspired. Such a powerful image!
- Wired featured Justin Van Genderson's Superheroes' Home Cities posters. His Gotham City print is currently sold out, but maybe if we ask nicely he'll make more.
- Clearly, Adam Juresko is even more impatient than I am, as he's already made a poster for the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, complete with release date.
- The Blackening Co's Polygon Hero: Batman really captures the impressive quality of Batman's sculpted suit.
- Pat Langton reminds us that even Batman has to do laundry sometimes. (But does he?)
- The Masked poster by Mini & Maximus is awesome for its own sake, but it also reminds me of one of my favorite Halloween costumes: Batman Princess. Some of us girls don't want to be Batgirl or Catwoman: we want to be Batman. And maybe also a princess.

I still prefer TIm Sale's Batman in the Long Halloween. Just perfect. Crazy long pointy ears and all.
OH MY GOD!!!! THANK YOU!!!! My anniversary is coming up and I've been scouring etsy for batman (and star wars) posters to give the hubby for his office. I wanted some that were cool, and not necessarily retro Batman, but dark and minimal gritty Batman. I actually added the 2nd one to my favourite's list!
Got the Gotham City print when first released two years ago. Get tons of compliments from people who arn't even Batman fans. Love it.
Summer blockbuster season hasn't started? Blockbuster season starts in May now...and there was that little movie called Avengers..
@MRSBERG- I love the idea of there being a Batman Anniversary! 1st is paper, 2nd is cotton & china, which one is Batman?
As a HUGE DARK KNIGHT fan myself, I can really appreciate this. It dark, but subtle. I may have to pick up a print for my apartment soon.
