I have this desk in wood in my school office. I cannot believe it is worth any where near $400. More like $4.

i have almost the exact same desk. paid a hundred bucks for it.... to get it refinished by someone who specializes in tankers is $700, so i think it might be an ok deal.
I have one similar too.. but I would save the 700 bucks and maybe try to paint it myself...
That isn't a couple-cans-of-red-spraypaint DIY finish - Clearly it's a professional job, and even with the few scufs and dings IMO well worth the $400 if this is something that would be of use in one's home...
I could just see an Emeco armchair paired w/ this desk in a modern home office.
