While discussing the pain of either replacing or living with came-with-the-place the-absolute-wrong-shade-of-green carpeting, I felt so lucky that I've never had to deal with such things...

In all my years of renting (7 apartments in 6 cities in 10 years), I've been lucky enough to always have hardwood floors in my home. Now, before you start thinking I'm fancy, please remember the closet I used to sleep in. And the kitchen I currently sleep in, for that matter. But every time I look for an apartment, i have my fingers seriously crossed that I'll find one with wood floors. I don't need lots of space, or a parking spot, but wood floors feel like home to me. They're easy to clean (and I make lots of messes), they're nice to lie on (cool in the summer and...okay, cool in the winter, too), and they feel so...spacious. Especially if there's not a lot of actual space!

What amenity or luxury do you have a perfect track record with so far (knock on wood)? Have you given up other benefits to maintain that record?
