#2 is also great for people who fall asleep reading in bed, like my husband. He's since gotten a Kindle, so doesn't need a reading light anymore, but for those who do, plug it into the outlet and don't worry about the lamp staying on all night or until you wake up to a light shining in your face.
I have #2 and LOVE it! I use it to charge my phone or laptop when I am not around or while I sleep. Keeps me from overcharging! Wish I had more than one of them!
Ooh, great idea, Rainarana! I fall asleep with the light on all the time.
That Energy Saving one (#2) is a brilliant idea - was wondering if they do them in UK/Ireland versions and they do!
I am so getting #2. I do have a question about #3 with it's USB ports: will it be a source of "vampire power" use? It must have a transformer in it to get 120vac down to 5vdc, and if its like all chargers, it's pulling some power all the time.
My husband and I put in three #3s because we have lots of usb cords for charging our iPods, phones, cameras, kindles, etc., but not a lot of wall adapters because they're always sold separately and cost extra. The outlets are so handy! We love them and they turn out to be a real conversation piece also; everyone asks about them and says they're going to order them hen they get home. I definitely recommend them.
You can't overcharge any modern phone or device.
My Bluetooth headset instructions cautioned, nay, warned of dire consequences, of charging more than 3 hours. For me, having an outlet that turns off after a period of time will save me a little money, knowing that the charger is not pulling 1/2 to 7 watts 24/7 (which they do). The vampire current draw bugs me.
