wow it's amazing (and pretty darn funny) how oblivious some people are to the whole them vs. reality thing....the yellow room was downright scarey

You know, I share her horror at the weird collection of photos that agents put up. I shot a BUNCH of gorgeous photos of our place, and the agent put up 5 on the listing - which were basically 2 views. She could have put up something WAY more appealing, the photos are there, and maybe we'd have more than 4 people viewing it by this point.

I just don't understand real estate agents....

It's almost like the RA's and owners are trying to get low offers...

I am in Real Estate and I too am always puzzled why some agents take the photos that they take.
I guess for some it is partly laziness but mostly they are just lacking an eye for it.
You would think that if you are getting PAID to sell the home, you would be looking for EVERY way possible to show it in the best light.

My favorite is the stuffed animals! HAHAHA

I have shown soooo many homes like that...yikes.

I know, right? I'm tempted to have the man of the house call her up and say "um, can you change the pics?" - they have a weird relationship - she was his agent when he originally bought the house, so of course we have to use her again.... (insert rolled eyes here).

I think a basic photography class should be required for any selling agent! Holy crap...this website is HILARIOUS! What are these people thinking??

This site is hi-lar-ious! That's an hour of my life I'll never get back...

On the upside if I liked the location and wouldn't mind renovating a room I would think that there would probably be no offers and could really lowball an offer.

blueroses1 Yes! I would have her change the pics!
Just send her the ones you took and ask her to use those instead.
Trust me, she wont be offended and really who cares? It's your house.
Those photos are important, and also ask her to make sure they are
updated in all of your newspaper and real estate guide ads also.
It will take her maybe 15 minutes to make those changes.
You've got to catch a buyers attention,
and strategic flattering pics will get you appointments.

i sold my home a few months ago and it's amazing, in this tough economical time, the agents that put forth no effort.

Time to dump your agent. No lack of real estate agents in this market. Your site is beyond comparison (with the one your agent posted). Her site makes your house look kind of sad. Is she trying to make you think your house isn't work the asking price?

Time to dump your agent. Seems there are plenty of RAs in need of listings in this market. Your site is beyond comparison (with your agent's). Is she trying to make you think your property isn't worth the asking price, so you'll take whatever offer comes in?

Blueroses, that's INCREDIBLE! How incompetent can she be? Her photos make the place look like a little hideaway purpose-built for sending out mail bombs, whereas it's spacious and elegant and filled with desirable details!

reb may be onto something there.

Either way, you should insist she post photos that show the high ceilings, and the stove, and the amazing deck!

I'm really gobsmacked by the difference between her presentation and yours.

BlueRoses1, that's great that you talked to her about the pics. I think a lot of people just don't want to deal with the confrontation, but hey, you're paying her, so she works for you. And the less you get for the house, the less she gets, so she should do everything she can. She definitely was not showing off the house to it's full potential. It's a gorgeous home, and the 2 photos that were posted made it seem tiny and pretty typical. But you're photos showing the big windows, the firplace, how sunny it was and the gorgeous views, that's what sells a house!! You have a beautiful home!

Some of those pics above are just creepy! That doll in the yellow room would so freak me out! And what's with all the bears? Bizarro.

In the UK the house seller has to approve the details the agent puts together before they send them out/upload them - it stops this kind of thing happening

i found this site a few months ago and love it. So happy to see it featured here. Being on the east coast, it is amazing to me what houses in horrible condition will go for in California.
