I've Got Color! Contest: Eric's subdued Retreat

Oct 20, 2005

Name: Eric
Location: San Francisco

Why I use color:

"Color can be vibrant or more subdued. By using a neutral back drop of color - it allows me to change the feel of the entire room with each of the seasons. Duvet's, pillows, artwork can be changed and then become the focal point. I like to match colors with each season. It is like having a whole new space without needing to redo the entire room. The eye is naturally drawn to these punches of color."

Color Tips:

"1. Paint a test area on the wall for your color and live with it a couple of days - to see how it changes with different lighting. That vivid paint sample may not look as good when it is on an entire wall.
2. Generally use 1 - 2 primary colors within a room
3. One red (or other color) accent wall can make an entire room."

Color Resources:
1. Benjamin Moore
2. Color wheel - to see which colors work well off each other.
