Name: Ivy (8 months)
Location: Richmond, VA
When I found out I was having a girl, decorating her room was top on my to-do list. The first thing I purchased for Ivy's room was a vintage wrought iron bed which can be used for late nights, early mornings, or just cuddling. Next up was the teal Matryoshka doll fabric which became the inspiration for the rest of the room.
You can see that fabric, or a variation, throughout the room, as well as other Matryoshka doll touches. I couldn't decide between modern, vintage, or eclectic so I incorporated a bit of each. There are lots of one-of-a-kind and handmade pieces and a few hand-me-down's from her big brother's room. Ivy loves hanging out in her room, and I am pretty sure it's also my favorite room in our house.
Thanks, Carrie!

actually i would just say measure the bar spacing and check to ensure it's compliant. you really can't tell from a photo.
i do love that fabric, and even though i'm not a big fan of fads (like the graphic/font saying art etc.) I think this is a sweet room that won't impinge on your daughter's own aesthetic, which is nice. It's also something she can really grow with, changing some things out but not all. i also love the idea of a quilt with her name on it, I have kept the quilt my grandma made me, and the name pillow my nana made too. These are the things that matter :) Homemade!
Love the Matryoshka theme!
Not to worry, we will take appropriate safety precautions when she transitions to a bed (years from now still). Until then it's a great spot for momma and grandma :).
Adorable!
But I was going to say if it's also a guest room at the moment - you have about 5 years to go for your girl to use that bed, I would think, as I have a 4 1/2 year old and I would not let her sleep unsupported on the sides and up so high.
But the design and colour scheme is super sweet. What a great big room she has - lucky girl ;D xo
Not sure why everyone is so concerned about the bed that Mom and Grandma are staying in, I'm sure that sweet little one is perfectly fine in the crib and will be for several years. This room is perfectly adorable! You can tell that so much thought and love was put into each and every piece. Congrats! This is definitely a room to be proud of.
Very pretty wall color. I love the bedspread and throw. Unique.
I wish the crib sheets could be purchased - adorable!!!
The colours are gorgeous and the whole effect is calm but quirky and cute. LOVE the bed cover. Oh, and the baby!
Love this room! You're lucky to have such a big, light space to work with.
My favourite is the door - it's so easy to forget that it's there, but when painted it makes such a nice, subtle pop of colour.
Commenters on AT really seem to struggle with realising that photos of spaces don't tell a family's life story.
love this! and i think you'll find she will be in that lovely (and classic!) bed sooner as opposed to later. i have a 2 and a half year old and he is in a regular old twin bed without any gates or side supports. once they realize they can climb up or down, you're good to go. anyway, lovely room and adorable baby.
I don't understand all the fuss over the bar spacing either. I grew up in the exact same bed and still have it as my guest room bed.
Please tell me where you got those "You are my sunshine" prints. I saw them once and loved them and now (of course) I can't find them again!!
Fabulous colors! You did such a good job of making all the fun prints work together. It is cheerful and soothing at the same time. I really love the crib sheets, I imagine they are as much fun to play on as they are to sleep on.
beautiful wall color. i have Martha Stewart Vintage Map Blue in my apartment, and it looks extremely similar to this! what's the lovely green you've put on the door?
Oh my! I hate to be a copycat, but I found these sweet matroyshka DIY cafe curtains (from Hart's Fabrics - though I don't see the fabric there any more) and have been casting about for other things to carry on the theme and have come up short. The sheets are adorable - do you mind telling your source?
I want that dresser! Love it all, and your Ivy is just darling!
And let's relax about the bed, jeeze.
Thanks for the great feedback!
*The green closet door paint was there when we moved in (we're renting), so I have no idea, sorry :(.
*The woman who made the sheets is no longer making them BUT you can order that fabric (by Kokka) and make them or have someone on etsy do it!
*Sunshine prints are from the ink society etsy shop

@CGOLDIN thanks for the crib fabric source - so cute!
