- Inspiration for my palette:
- This room is big. It is two stories with tons of large windows. With so much natural light, I wanted to play with a really dark color on the walls and furnishings. Turquoise is my favorite color, so I splashed it all around the room as an accent color. The rug adds a huge punch of pattern and color in the room. The navy rug inspired the center-striped pillow which ties the room together. The teal and green from the other pillows and the ice blue velvet on the chairs match colors in the striped pillow.
- Colors used in my room
- Wall Color - Zinc by Martha Stewart
Trim Color - Divine White by Sherwin Williams
Rug - Moroccan Trellis in Navy from RugsUSA
Sofa - Andre in Pewter from Room & Board
Chairs - Ice/Aqua Blue Velvet
- Tips for using color successfully
- Don't be afraid to use a lot of colors in one space. As long as you have something, like the striped pillow in my room, to tie them all together it will work beautifully. Using the same color in a few different shades adds depth and helps the room look layered.

I LOVE that palette, but the navy in it does not match the navy of the rug, and that is what's throwing me off here. Still a good looking room though.
Love that ottoman - where is it from?
Love this room. But I agree your palette is a little off. I see more blue green than navy except for that great navy rug..and the navy in the palette is too dark. Love the room! Source for the print above the fireplace please?
This rug is AMAZING! It's making me think I should get something with a statement type print and move my current rug to another room. I also like how you splashed the turquoise around the room. I think this room would also look great with lime green in place of the turquoise. And I totally understand how you would want to have dark colors in a room that is so light already.
Thanks for the support!
You can find out all the details about this room here on my home tour: http://www.tealandlime.com/family-room-home-tour/
The round ottoman is from Room and Board, we stalked it for weeks at the outlet until we snagged it for $199!
The art above the mantel was a DIY project I did with a cheap piece of canvas art (http://www.tealandlime.com/2012/07/pinterest-challenge/). The Let's Get Lost wood sign is by Oh Dier.
Keep those hearts coming!
Juliechats,
You are spot on. I love lime. My blog is actually called Teal & Lime! I sprinkle lime and chartreuse all throughout my house. You would love my teal and lime dining room.
That rug really ties the room together. LOL. But really, it does. Great entry.
Gorgeous!
Love the gallery wall and the colors!
