The James Lounge is the only convertible sofa from Gus Modern. Similar to the classic George Nelson daybed, it's a simple design that is a quick transition from armless sofa to twin sized mattress. Tufted upholstery and a stainless steel frame are contemporary updates that help bring the James in line with the rest of the Gus Modern collection.
The small scale of James makes it especially attractive for apartment dwellers. Though it only converts to a twin-sized sleeping area, it is easy to imagine two of these smaller sofas in a living room arrangement or a single sofa tucked into a small office or alcove sitting area.
Conversion is easy — two velcro tabs on each of the cushions (4 total) secure the backrest to the stainless steel frame. Remove the cushions and the James is ready for a standard twin size fitted sheet.
James is firm and comfortable — this is a sofa that might be more comfortable as a bed, similar to DWR's Twilight Sleeper and Blu Dot's Flat Out models.
James Lounge is available in white vinyl or the menswear-inspired gray herringbone upholstery.

I had a futon once that was very similar. It was nice, and looked good, but very uncomfortable when unfolded. Of course this probably costs a billion times more, so it most likely is a lot more comfortable.
I so love my gus modern couch but in the 1.5 years i've had it, i had to send it back to the store to have a broken spring fixed (which was covered under warranty - the customer service was very quick and friendly) and now the stitching around the tufting is coming out in one spot. it won't be covered under the warranty... kinda sucks that i already need to do 2 repairs in less than 2 years.
I never can figure out how to lounge on a couch without bolstered arms. I manage ok in a bed, but when I lay out on a couch, I need the "headboard" effect of arms.
Agree with Sue Wanda-we had several quality issues with GUS products and were major disapointed when we found it that the sofa was made in China-I find there styling good, but overpriced for chinese imports.
American Leather makes the most comfortable sleepers I have tried out
I agree with Poster! Arms would make it so much more comfortable.
please save your sanity; avoid the whole Gus Modern/Bobby Berk nightmare. I have been waiting for over 2 months for a sofa that I was told was IN STOCK, and so i paid for it. Upon my card being charged, they informed me that it was not in stock, and have only vague information about when I will get it. I feel like I have been swindled. It's very shady, as there are two companies involved (GM & BB). I wish I had bought my second choice couch from Room & Board- they seem so much more reliable.
