If the entry hall to Jane Fonda's Atlanta loft feels oddly familiar, there's a reason. "To me it is a womb with a narrow birth channel and then you enter the wide open sunny loft to be born again," says the Hollywood icon.

Not that we're averse to pastel color schemes — when done right. We were charmed by pink in Christine & Vijay's Urban Farmhouse and seduced by Ros's Hot Pink Bedroom. We've even seen a few pink kitchens we wouldn't mind inhabiting. But this installation feels possibly more pepto-abysmal than pretty-in-pink.
So Fonda's place has us wondering: Can pink ever really work in a loft?

I think it's fantastic - and perfect for Jane.
Went to her site. Lots of things I like but they don't mesh for me for some reason. And the ceiling in the master bedroom isn't high enough for that canopy.
Not my choice but I think it looks fine - far from the Pepto color they're talking about.
Wow, its very "80s"
I don't like pink but this doesn't look bad at all
No, pink does not work in a loft. Ever. Ever ever.
Can you imagine how great that place would look without the pink? And without most of the decor as well....haaaha.
Sorry Jane...
'Those is fightin' words.' That is the color of my walls. This is the third dwelling that I have had with rose walls. It is so soothing. She only has it in her foyer. And it's gorgeous!!
I think it's pretty darn cool.
I really don't mind the use of pink in the loft. I like it, actually. And although it does feel a little bit 80s, I think it's the way the different elements are put together that makes it feel like a bad "Bonfire of the Vanities" set rather than a chic loft. The fou-fou pillows on the all-white sofas with all the brushed stainless steel makes it seem dated, to me, but with a few minor updates, I think it could be awesome!
It looks fine IMO. On my computer it looks a bit lilac in some of the photos. I agree the canopy bed doesn't look right in the Master room, not to mention it would be more appropriate in a child's bedroom a la Little Mermaid.
The kitchen ceilings also look a bit low, but could be the photo angle.
And I'm not sure why Ms. Fonda would liken her hallway to the inside of the vagina though-- maybe because she was inspired by the pastel colors at her obstetrician's office?
I don't mind the pink on the walls but for some reason I do on the stairs. I agree the sofa pillows are dated. And the canopy seems too 'Little Shop of Horrors' for me, but the rest isn't bad.
The bed! OMG, I didn't see that the first time around. The bed is........ hilarious.

Um, there is a landing strip joke here but *I* am not going to make it.
patrick (the other one) : Ew and Heh.
For a womb (with a view) this pad seems pretty sterile to me.
I keep waiting for the girl in a lab coat with a perfume sampler to pop out from behind some nook.
ugh :-P
I prefer it when my architecture is not anatomically correct

Oh, gimme a break, Jane...
"And I'm not sure why Ms. Fonda would liken her hallway to the inside of the vagina though--"
You don't?
That's just the way Jane sees things...
"I keep waiting for the girl in a lab coat with a perfume sampler to pop out from behind some nook."
More likely a room upholstered in Fun Fur and an evil scientist named Duran Duran with his Exessive Machine...
I liked the pink on the stairs better than the one on the walls, but that might be the way my computer portrayed it.
I love love pink, but it looks kind of lonely amid the other steel, white, black and splashes of reds.
All in all, I'd love to go to a party there, but it's way too empty for me to live there comfortably.
Good recall, bespf - but it's Durand-Durand. Just ask Milo O'Shea. Thanks for the trip in your time machine!
She praised the North Vietnamese, posed for a photo at a Communist anti-aircraft gun emplacement, made several radio broadcasts for the Communist North Vietnamese in which she called American military leaders "war criminals," then when some of the POWs returned home and described mistreatment by the North Vietnamese, she said Americans should "...not hail the POWs as heroes, because they are hypocrites and liars."
Can't believe la Fonda has an Warhol-esque triptych of herself (I'm assuming). For an actress, it's beyond cliché.
I think the pink and the baby blue, separately and together, look horrendously bad, but considering her birth canal analogy, why not have a space that evokes a hospital nursery? She does get points for the dining room chairs, though.
not bad
but too much track lighting
would be warmer vibe with medium light colored wood floors
love the womb/inside of her vagina analogy!
That is very, very eighties. And not in a good way.
Scooze me dimples...were you there?
All I can think of is: cliché tackiness.
It is feminine. In this case it is a girls only loft.
my mother would love this..me...not so much
I think its post-post modern? It has a retro late 80s vibe yet is remarkebly forward thinking without being trendy. interesting.
Between the hard sterile floor and the airport terminal lighting, there is nothing warm about this place. Also, since it is up for sale or lease, I'm guessing doesn't actually live there; rather, it is more of an investment property. I'd like to see more celebrity homes where celebrities actually LIVE.

If you had bothered to read her blog, you'd know that she has lived in this space for the past 19 years and why she's now leaving Atlanta for LA.
Great space! I love the subtle pink that is used all over :)
Is this Primal Scream chic?
@DrTheopolis: In Ms. Fonda's defense, the Warhol lithos were photographed and made by the great wigged-one himself, during Tom Hayden's fifteen minutes of fame to raise campaign money. So, in that light, these art works are an intersection of art, hollywood iconoclasm and a particular moment in American politics. Awesome provenance. And, if I were to guess, I'd think Mr. Warhol would be pleased that his works have gone cliché.
not my style but i think it's beautiful & tastefully done. i really love the art.
That bed cracks me up. Quirky for sure.
The place looks so lonely and sterile. Only the bedroom looks like it is lived in.
The green glass fireplace is interesting---I'd like to see a photo of it with a fire going. But the rest of it is just faded and washed out. It reminds me of one of those boutique mammography clinics.
Thank you obdimples. I too was horrified to see any post on my favorite site about that POS woman. But you forgot that she got two POWs beaten to death and one beaten nearly to death for turning them in to their captors when they attempted to discreetly pass her their social security numbers.
Go, Jane! She's so personable with comments on her blog.
But where's the workout room?
I think its ok...I just wouldn't liken any of my living space to a vagina...definitely girls-only space. I can't imaging a man being at home there...despite the va-jay-jay reference.
I don't like it. I'm all for a compressed entry into a larger space, but does it literally need to be the color and shape of a womb? No.
