- Inspiration for my palette:
- Colors left over from another house plus the sudden urge to paint a wall orange before winter's dreariness set in. Somehow they all combined into a summery citrus scheme that I probably couldn't have planned from scratch.
- Colors used in my room
- Main palette: Benjamin Moore: "Orange Sky" on stove wall, "Nacho Cheese on ceiling and window wall". Sherwin Williams: "Alexandrite" on trim.
Adjoining hallway: Farrow & Ball "Teresa's Green", BM "Simply White".
- Tips for using color successfully
- If you can go at it slowly, starting with one color then seeing what it seems to "want", you may get a better result than if you choose all your colors at once from chips.

Wow! I love your kitchen and all it's vintage charm!!! Your windows. The colors are great. And that stove goes without saying.
Is that a coffee grinder made into a clock!?!?! *swoon*
That is one of the most adorable stoves I've ever seen. And in such good condition!
Interesting use of binder clips! =)
Very cozy looking, I bet it's even better when the ground is covered with snow.
This is the first photo that instantly made me smile when I saw it in this contest. That is the cutest stove ever!
The "coffee grinder" is built into the stove and acts as an oven timer. When it works. Country Charm stoves are electric, based on cast iron parts from 1875 wood cookstove forms. They are no longer being made but, at least for now, parts may be obtained by calling House of Webster, 800-369-4641, or visit their website.
That is the cutest stove ever. :)
I love that stove! There is actually one for sale on Ebay right now for $600. I am so-o-o tempted! I hope a House Tour is in the works, I'd love to see the rest of the house.
We have the same color orange in our kitchen. I think the ceiling here pushes it a little too far though
This made me smile!! I would love to walk into this kitchen every morning! Love it!
Freakin' awesome. The blue-green trim was genius.
The blue-green trim was just luck! I had it on hand and figured if it looked bad I wasn't out anything -- but as it turned out, it balances all the oranges.
LOVE!
I'd like to be in your kitchen cooking. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful idea!
Thank you for the info. That's really cool! And, until you said it, I hadn't even noticed it was electric! At a glance I assumed it was really old and was probably now gas...
What a beautiful room! Except the stove. It looks out of place. I can take that off your hands for you. ;-)
That stove is soo much fun, I love it!
I regret that I am only allowed one vote! Love the Mac and Cheese with black and white accents and the well-patinaed wood.
Love the colors in this room. Charming vintage pieces and everything blends together nicely. What an amazing view from the windows...imagine it would be delightful to gaze out in all four seasons.
WOW! This is such a warm, inviting room that it brought an instant smile to my face...and will definitely be my inspiration for painting my own kitchen/dining room/living room/entrance. (Otherwise known as our Great Room, I guess!!) Janet, your color scheme just beckons friends to come in and enjoy a visit! It reaches out and gives you a hug. Beautiful!!! <><
This place is just plain great!
Thank you, everyone, for your comments. Reading them has lifted my spirits so much.
