We just returned from Portland where things were really, really grey. And when we got back to LA the weather was really, really grey. So as the sun starts coming out and the weather returns to normal, we were reminded how much a light and bright living room (with a yellow sofa) can bring some cheer to the winter months:
We found Jan's Living Room on flickr and swooned. A graphic designer in the Czech Republic, it's a place where the weathers can be dreary so this bright, danish modern influenced living room is the perfect antidote. We love the yellow sofa, the beams, the restores chair and table and the workspace tucked into the corner. There's no clutter, and even though it's bright and open, it still feels cozy and inviting.

Sprout Side Table

I love this room. I love the furnishings, the light, the art, and especially that cute little table by the front door.
Perfect! I'd be so afraid to try a yellow sofa, but it definitely works here! The lack of clutter helps a LOT. Definitely inspirational!
Anyone know who makes the sofa?
The sofa really makes the room.
Just wonderful! Great color, great balance of yin-yang shapes and elements. Kudos!
This is my kind of room! Lovely furniture. (Although I am a bit tired of "For Like Ever"!)
Isn't the sofa ikea? This room is great and I'm not tired of the "For Like Ever"!
Hello all!
Sofa is just IKEA Kramfors .
I know that people here are bit tired from For like... poster - but here in Czech Republic, noone even knows it:)
Thanks for feedback!
Jan
I thought the sofa was IKEA, but the upholstery threw me - couldn't find it on the site. Alas, the the Kramfors is only available in leather here in the US! Darn.
Yes, its Kramfors. Ikea discontinued the fabric cover options in the USA this past year.
Very sweet and cheerful!!!!
Love Love Love it!
I have a never ending crush on yellow, but everything else in this room seems perfectly pulled together as well.
Anyone know what the smallish white ottoman/table things under the coffee table are?
supriya: Thank you! Those are eames LTR tables.
Love this room. It makes me smile. :)
So happy!
perfect and dreamy!!! great work!
AH. thanks for the ray of sunshine...
Jan, even if people in Czech were just as "over it" as other people are, it shouldn't matter! If you like it, go with it! This has been "over" in the states for awhile now, and I still really want one. I think it looks well-suited in your lovely home, personally. :) I have some serious living room envy right now.
I love this room. Does anyone know who makes the coffee table?
So full of yay!
It's very hard to work with this kind of palette and not have the room feel like it is all going to float away... or look like a fourteen year old girl lives here... but this totally succeeds.
Nicely played!
Saw this Room & Board Anson sofa in a beautiful marigold on their showroom floor:

Bit pricey, but really lovely.
i have been thinking about getting 3 of the bubble lamps for over our eating area. it is a small area 10 x 12 and I wonder how you like yours? We want some light with the beauty.
where did you get your bubble lamps? somewhere cheaper than modernica? (*fingers crossed*)
This is so wonderful and perfect and cheerful! All the little pops of color, and that gorgeous yellow sofa........ You did an amazing job. This place just makes me smile.
American Leather makes sofas in various colors of ultrasuede. I got a nice yellow sofa at a consignment shop. I went back the next day to get two pistachio green chairs. They have orange, fuschia, blue and other bold colors.
Where is the rug from?
I usually hate yellow but this sofa looks wonderful! By the way those cute window reminded me of the time I spent in Czechia and how much I miss it!
My walls are Benjamin Moore Desert Tan, and I couldn't love it more. It has just enough yellow in it to be warm, but also has a sort of dirty-brown-gray thing going on so it still looks sophisticated.
Can anyone identify maker of the small side table next to the front door? I have seen this table and its companion at Les Pierre Antiques in NYC, but the set was $7000. Thanks!
