Across the Apartment Therapy sites this month, we are taking a look at art at home.
We are thinking about how to find (or make!) art, where to buy art and how to frame and hang it. Readers have been sending in photos of art to share and inspire and AT:SF is holding a charity auction.
It got us thinking about our house tours here on AT:Chicago and how many of them integrated art into their homes so well.
Jim and Derrick have a huge collection from their favorite artist. David also has a sizeable collection, this time from many different sources. Kathryn made a big decision last year when she walked into a studio and saw the paintings that she knew would be right for her loft.
Many of our tours took us through the homes of artists and we found that their studios are central to their spaces. Artists prioritize their work - they figure out how to make room to make their art.
Shannon and Emmett's place is defined by the work they and their friends do. Sa's photography and her husbands paintings drew us in. Katie's paintings and her workspace are both well curated and lovely. Two photographers homes: Andreas and Joseph. Two architects who let us in: Zoka and Austin.
And those are just some of the patrons and the artists we met through the tours - Chicago is a city that embraces art and the homes we've looked at do the same.
