We love these little iron Japanese Bells that we spotted on the website of one of our favorite Bay Area stores. We haven't yet seen them in person, but the sweet bird and owl are described as having "good balance and a clear, warm sound that lingers long in the air..."
That's pretty irresistible.

I love these bells. I've had one hanging from the handle of my bedroom door for years. It's just a bell-looking bell, though...not a lovely owl. Still...I love it.
I bought a couple of these around Christmas and love them. They seem on the less touchy end of the wind chime sensitivity spectrum.
Asakichi in Japantown carries a wide variety of these "furin" Japanese wind chimes, plus other great iron teapots.
Red envelope has a very similar product...if not the same... what a beautiful housewarming gift...

I have the little bird hanging on my ceiling fan. It tones only occasionally when i change the fan speed. But it is sweet. Mine is courtesy or Pearl River Mart here in NYC, but they are online as well.
