Operation Play Kitchen is underway in our house, so I'm scouring the web for the best DIY adaptations. Chelsea from Finding Joy was actually inspired by Apartment Therapy reader versions. How nice is it that the inspiration wheel is now coming full circle?

With a simple entertainment center, accoutrements from good old Target and IKEA (of course), paint and a little elbow grease, Jarvis has a clean, "manly", and minimalist kitchen he'll be excited to use for years to come.

My 3 y.o. son would love this!
I have seen a lot of play kitchens but I LOVE the chalk board section. Wonderful!
Finally a great looking masculine play kitchen. Love it!
My son loves to play chef, here is the best idea ever.
Great job "finding joy".
I resent the fact that the word masculine is used to describe this. Kids don't care, only adults assign colors and styles a gender. Why not just call this modern, which is actually a way to BE more modern and not stuck in the dark ages of the kitchen being a woman's place.
To me as a man with a grown son the use of describing this as "manly" is offensive. And "finally a masculine play kitchen"? Was anything ever stopping you think-for-yourself-ers from altering the colors on a toy to suit your child's desires?
I love the design of this, and I love the colors. So do my wife and granddaughter. I hope that doesn't threaten everyone's manhood.
