- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I love the light. There are windows in every room that allow the light and the air to flow through, uninterrupted.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- The biggest challenge in this small space was arranging the living room furniture. Because the front door is opposite the fireplace, which is centered, it kind of throws off the symmetry of the room. I chose to ignore that and put the seating arrangement right in the middle anyway. I could use another sofa to seat more people but that will come in time, I suppose :)

I LOVE this space! My favorite parts are the wall paper in the bathroom and the front door. So cute!
If I lived alone, this would totally be the style of my dream apartment. Love the kitchen, especially the floor, bathroom wallpaper and the orange front door. So girly!
I love how the cat blends in with the kitchen. And I love that bathroom!
This house was featured in a house tour a while back and it's my FAVORITE ever. It is total inspiration for what I want MY house to turn out like in the future!! LOVE it.
I do like this a lot, and that kitchen is fantastic.
@GEEKYFEMME - Ohh my gosh, I didn't even see the cat!
LOVE the pink nightstand!
there are 2 cats I think
Don't you live in Westchester?
Love the pink nightstand. I'm gong to do that two my two vintage ones.
I love the wallpaper in the bathroom!
Jenika! Your house looks fabulous! Mere XO
Again, I don't think anything over 900 sq. ft is small but then I'm just one. If more than one lived in that space, then yes, it's small.
I echo the love of the wall paper in the bathroom and even though I'm not a 'pink' kinda of gal, the nightstand gave me a chuckle..in a nice way.
You have style, that's for sure.
Yes. Bathroom wallpaper. What is it?
@LYONSTILL I have to agree with you about the sq. footage. I don't consider it small either considering the 425 sq ft place I live in. That being said, I love this place. I normally hate wallpaper but really enjoyed the bathroom paper.
@LYONSTILL For one person, I'd say that 900 square feet is more than enough but that really isn't a hard and fast rule. Humans are so different and our lives are so diverse that there's just no way AT could make any kind of blanket rule to decrease the square footage associated with "small" without being extremely exclusionary.
For instance, for one person with special needs like a handicap ramp, 900 square feet might be small because of modifications for that person's needs. Or 900 square feet is one person and two large dogs. Or maybe it's one person there full time, but they host a lot of relatives and friends. Or, a person who operates a business out of their home and needs more space.
There are a variety of reasons why a person might be the only human in their own home..just because it's larger than what someone else may consider "small" doesn't mean AT should be exclusionary.
I echo the sentiment in regards to the bathroom wallpaper- love it. And that night stand rocks.
I love the window coverings. Did you make them?
Love the two black cats in the kitchen, just blending in. Great design in every room. Really beautiful.
Oh my gosh, there are TWO cats! I missed the set of eyes peeking out from the corner of the photo.
Love this! I love the color of the door and the pink nightstand/drawer combo! Really cute place...
This place is so pretty. And I TOTALLY have that same blue lamp. I got it at Home Goods.
Lovely house but I still don't like the DIY curtains (featured here before), the pattern is too dominating for me.
Love the bold curtains! Really adds a pop-chic to the whole look and ties it in throughout. It's great to see bold pop colors and feminine florals together – very chic.
Love the first bedroom..the chocolate brown walls, the pink nightstand, the blue lamp, the black and white duvet and shades..awesome. Also really like the kitchen. It's fun trying to spot the cute cats.
I love this house! My favorite room is the kitchen ... with the hidey cats.
really tired of people saying they don't think these places are small since it is only one person living there....SHUT UP!
the rules are based on SQUARE FOOTAGE...not HOW MANY PEOPLE LIVE IN THE SPACE!
OMG Coletta...LOL...so true though! I was thinking the same thing then got to your post and you said it...totally crackin' me up!
Ok, love the bold colors and the bathroom wallpaper! The window treatments are not my stye BUT I like the originality and that they somehow work here! Kudos :)
Love this home! From a design standpoint I think carrying both horizontal and vertical blocks of black throughout the home is aesthetically pleasing. Black in both floor and upper wall placement draws the eye through each living space and creates a natural focus on the clever use of eclectic objects and shabby chick antique furniture. Using black and white for the window treatments/frames and mats on wall art gives attention to the lovely color choices for paint and the wallpaper design in the bathroom. In addition to that the curtains and floor tile pull the eyes away from the ceiling textures which would otherwise have been the focal point in both the living and kitchen spaces. This interior designer/decorator is both tasteful and artistically talented in her use of pattern, color, shape and textures. Less is more in this fresh small interior. For those of us that know and appreciate the elements and principals of design this inviting little home puts the fun into all things small including the cats! Every room in this home is thoughtfully laid out and creates an airy and friendly space to live and entertain in. :)
Coletta is funny, and Northern Girl made me appreciate the design even more.
Did you put in the kitchen flooring yourself? If so, what's it made out of and where did you get it?
Considering something similar for our own kitchen one day. :)

I commented on your home and I love it. I am going trough my favorites for the contest and ran across your home and looked at the pictures again...your kitchen is so nice..but....uhmmm...what is in the microwave...a set of curtains?!?!??!?!? Lol...
And before someone says it's a reflection.....look again...
Cooking curtains or not...loved your place and yes I voted for you =D
I love the pink nightstand too!
And Colleta is funny! :) (I agree too)
Beautiful space. Where did you get the black and white comforter? I have been looking for one like it.
Lol!!
