Name: Jennifer & Jair
Location: Financial District — NYC
This New York City apartment is our first home together. I bought the apartment in late 2006 and met my future husband a few months later. We closed on the apartment in mid 2007, moved into it together, and were married shortly after. Jair (my husband) is an architect and wanted to make it our own. We opened up our one bedroom with sliding glass doors and added many features to personalize and customize our space.
Thanks Jennifer & Jair!

White Enamel Flatwa...
Where did you get that great piece of art in the living room? Who is the artist? It looks like something that I saw a while back at the Sande Webster Gallery in Philadelphia. Is it encaustic? Also, I really like the apartment. Great job with it.
Love this apartment. Great use of small space. Do you know what color/brand paint (white) you used in the hallway/main living space? Thanks!
Fabulous! I would really like to see a full house tour Please!!! That color blue is amazing.
Nice! Doesn't look *that* small! Looks light and airy.
Love the brown in the kitchen, you don't often see that color of paint in a kitchen. I really like it!
Great job with the apartment! You managed to make it feel light and airy despite the limited space. Love that picture of the hallway, ahd that electric blue wall!
The beam dividing the bed would have been a problem but the white paint (= metal) cuts the oppressive beam energy. Nice job!
Very nice! The area behind your bed looks very "Mondrianish". But you probably already know that.
Love the kitchen. So often stylish modern spaces just go utilitarian minimalist in there. It great to see that it fits so nicely with the rest of the place.
The rest of the place looks interesting too, but of course its really hard to tell with so few pix.
I'd like to see the whole tour too!
I love the bed - who makes it? Let's see a full tour...
Wow, cool! I personally don't care for those shades of blue or brown, but they're really working for you! I would love to see a floorplan...
Clever use of mirrors and glass. Looks light and airy--but nice touch with rug on the bedroom floor. (Thinking of winter.) Small and cool. Ditto the tour request.
You have a beni ouarain rug! So jealous.
What a beautiful apartment! I love your art and the beautiful sliding doors. I'd like to do sliding doors in my place as well but always wondered about the utility of a sliding door/wall as it removes a whole wall of useful space that can be used for a tv or serve as a backdrop for a table, which is the case for my place. I'm not lucky as you to have an architect in the family!
Is this Jair Lynch? How cool!
I goofed; Jair Lynch is in real estate development, not architecture.
Cool apartment!
Great job with the space....I had a loft down on John St in the city and it was the perfect space and i do miss it very much.. Thanks for sharing the wonderful space!
Jealous.
First off- Thank you everyone for your sweet comments.
We were on vacation - just returned and realized today that our apartment was on here.
The large art in the living room is oil not encaustic and it is by Jair. Other paintings are by Matt Magee, Chris Rucker, and Jack Warren.
The paint color throughout the apartment is Benjamin Moore Gray Mist. The trim and doors are BM 967. The back wall is Hollandlac-Blue Suede Shoes- it is a high gloss finish applied to skim-coated walls.
The bed was custom made by Jair. The fabric on the headboard is Thomas O'brien.
To the right of the sliding doors- we left enough space for a 46 in. television on a swing out arm, which allows us to view the TV from all directions, but most importantly put it away.
I will try to figure out how to post more pics of the apartment- so you can see it.
Also- you can check out Jair's other work at www.jairgonzalez.com
I love it! Great use of space. I know how talented you are Jair - first hand...We are love our totally renovated apartment you designed.
Love the art. Is that an original Matt Magee ? I love his work. I also recognize the large paintings . FANTASTIC! Great job. This is one of my favorites.
Thank you. Yes it is.
