Name: Jennifer
Location: Montclair, New Jersey
Type of Home: rental apartment
Color Inspiration: This kitchen gets great light during the day. It is also the first room you see when you enter the apartment. I wanted to make a statement with a beautiful color that would make the space a little more modern and inviting. I chose a fresh color that is bright without being blinding. I wanted a space that I would love spending time in whether it be cooking, eating, or reading the paper with a cup of coffee — I'm happy to report that I got it!

Colors Used: Benjamin Moore, I think it is Apple Green. Apartment white with bright green accessories.
Color Tip: Pick colors that exude your personality and that inspire your creativity in a particular space. Do not be afraid to be bold with paint!! It's one of the easiest things you can change in a space. Make it work for you.

Love the blocked off color, the branches and the green chairs, but the wall color with those cabinets... hmmm. Not a big fan. Maybe an orange or red or even blue would have worked better. Good job though!
I love the birdie
nice job representing the 973!
I love the branch and bird silhouettes.
Love it!!!!!
Sweet and simple...Love what you have done!
very cool!!
Thanks! I couldn't change out the cabinets, so I decided to make the focus the wall instead.
I dig the wall, but it looks like the room is a start for something awesome that's still incomplete.
very cute. it needs something, but i'm not really sure what. maybe a diff window covering.
totally a smile worthy room.
Thanks thenewblack, what suggestions do you have to make it look more complete?
Thanks mariegael for your feedback on the curtain. I wonder if I used one with a bigger pattern? I originally chose the black and white gingham so it wouldn't compete with the tree and bird.
i think it's a good use of color in the space, a splash of color without over doing it. love the branches and bird touch. it adds a touch of whimsy to the space.
bright yet cozy... love the birdie!
Loving the branches on the color block! I'm assuming they're decals... would you be so kind as to pass on the source? We've been looking for something like that for our own space forever! ... Might have to do them on a color block, now, too... :) It's lovely.
THIS is exactly what I love to see on AT! Not-ideal cabinets, not-ideal appliances, not-ideal flooring, but this is one lovely, inviting kitchen. I think you did a fantastic job and you inspired me.
(I agree, the ruffled valance on the window is not the best, and the table seems small. Cool chairs though)
I would love to see the rest of the apartment! The tree branch creeping onto the plug cover is my favorite detail in the room.
super cute. I even like the gingham!
muchness w/ little !
you could add a green rope light on top of the cabinets, if possible, or a green bulb somewhere, and have green light at night (i have a green rope light wrapped around my computer monitor stand, it feels good).
love it's simplicity!
yessss the bird detail is too darn cute!
I heart that little bird too - so great!
Love the branches and the bird even more! I also second what MansardRoof said: This is what AT is about :o)
Thank you for all the comments so far. They are extremely constructive and extremely appreciated!! By the way, the decal was purchased from Ferm Living. The bird decal is actually a tester that comes with all decals you purchase from them. But I thought it was so cool, I incorporated it into the design.
Inspiring! - JB
where are the chairs from??
Although the green partially painted wall and silhouette is attractive, since this is a color contest, I was disappointed at the otherwise lack of overall color.
Chairs are good 'ol IKEA!
¡Un vejigante! Love the mask :)
I'm not sure what to say.
I love the color and the decals, and I agree with others about the curtains... they're maybe a bit too... twee? I can't place it. Maybe I'm just a long curtain kind of girl.
Also, where is that table from?
Overall, great job!
Very original! Thanks for sharing!
