Name: Jennifer Jones
Location: Baldwin, Wisconsin
Size: Closet-sized office (just completed last August)
Once upon a time, Jennifer and her husband worked together to create a stylish dedicated basement home office, an organized area for her blogging, photo editing, professional work and where she was just hatching plans for a home organization business. The computer and crafting area was what many would consider a perfect home office...perfect, until a storm caused significant flooding. Jennifer had to abandon the basement area, but being the resourceful type, she was able to envision another home office in much tighter confines: inside a small closet.

We'd argue her new home office is more impressive than the first, being a glowing example of optimized and organized utility, all with a glamorous sheen, thanks to a lovely wallpaper selection and complementing accessories. Her new home office may be small, but it's certainly big on style!
AT Survey:
My/our style: Eclectic, fresh, slightly cottage-y combined with a sprinkle of traditional.
The inspiration for my home office/home theater: I needed to create a workspace that had function yet was pleasant to be in since I would be spending many hours each day utilizing the space. Adding the wallpaper instantly made it feel like a room vs. a closet, which is what I was working to achieve.
Favorite element in your space: Absolutely the wallpaper. It set the tone for the entire project.
Biggest challenge in designing my space: Fitting so much storage into such a small space. Really maximizing the vertical space and space below the desk to store all of our files and my craft supplies.
Here's the previous home office Jennifer had to abandon due to a basement flooding, forcing her to devise her creative new space.
What friends say about my space: Oooh-la-la! It’s definitely been a great source of conversation when we have gatherings at our home. Many have found ideas and inspiration from the small space.
Proudest DIY (do it yourself) project: In respect to the closet office, installing wallpaper for the first time, building the desk in, adding an outlet and drilling holes into the top of the desk for wires. In respect to our home, the conversion of the closet into the home office and our custom media shelving setup (shown above).
Biggest indulgence with respect to my space: The wallpaper, from The Wallpaper Company(Sea Breeze Large Floral Trail). It was $60 per roll x 2.
Best advice about organizing or incorporating tech into the home: Go wireless when you can. We also plug all of our computer items {external hard drive, printer, etc..}, into a USB hub so that we can just run 1 single cord up to the laptop when necessary. Also, media boxes are great storage items in a small closet office, they can store anything from media to craft supplies and stack and keep a clean and organized feel.

Oh, I love Jen and her cloffice. Such a great use of space and pretty to boot! :)
I'm sure this has been asked, but where does that hanging cup-organizer come from?
Very darling.
What is in the other closet, if I may ask? Clothing?
asciident - it looks like these cups, these hooks and this rail from Ikea.
Love the closet office. We're doing something similar in our art room/office, but not nearly as stylish and fem.
Yeppers, the other closet is for our clothing!

I LOVE Jen! She is too cute and great style and design. This closet-office is so beautiful, it makes me want to toss my guest room/office and opt for a closet one instead!!! I Absolutely love the cups, hooks, and rail system, the swing arm lamp, and the WALLPAPER! My husband is fairly anti-wallpaper because it remind him of "gramma's house," so it helps to show him gorgeous modern paper, like in Jen's office. These pics are quickly swaying him in support of some gorgeous, high-impact wall paper!!!
<3 <3 <3 this Jen! Found your blog via AT and promptly bookmarked it!
Read about the flood and all the trials/tribulations it caused :-( but it looks like you've rebounded nicely!
OMG Love it alllllll! Way to go Jen! Such an inspriration!
I agree with you about the wallpaper setting the tone for the entire project...it is absolutely gorgeous! Hope the company still carries it because I want some. I have been wanting to turn my hallway closet into a chic and cozy work station for scrap-booking, 'couponing' and a place for just for me. Thanks for the great ideas and most of all, for telling us where we can find the items you have pictured!
Whenever I rearrange my office space it turns into a whole-day project just trying to get all the cords out of the way.
There is no doubt a newly-formed section of hell for cords. However, now we're hearing that cordless devices emit harmful EMF's or something. Gyah! Maybe there's no escaping it. But I felt the need to vent.
What an interesting idea, these kind of closet/office!
Congrats for the originality!!!
I suggest these table lamps to other projects: http://www.behance.net/gallery/HERITAGE-Table/802000.
Thanks!
