Oh, Monument. The reason it's one of our favorite shops in the whole world is because they're so brave when it comes to picking fabrics for their re-upholstery. Case in point, this Jens Risom chair. The chair itself is so striking and beautiful... Add that Paul Smith fabric and vavoom! We're in love.

The chair is from the 1950's. It's made from black walnut and is in flawless condition. The price? $3800.

That's sexy.
But where's Monument?
sexy somehow doesn't even begin to describe its glory...
GORGEOUS. Love the fabric - any ideas where it can be found (as a place keeper until I win the lottery)?

STUNNING STUNNING STUNNING!! I love it! I want it! But not specifically that one because it's way too expensive. Don't think I need Paul Smith textile on it.
Monument makes me all weak in the knees. And sad I'm not a millionaire.
Great chair, insanely priced.
No chair in the world is worth that much.
This makes me crazy that price, yes a nice chair but not worth it. I am in the commercial interiors business and i don't pay retail. I will share this company with you if you like that style, similar and very well made.
here is the link to the Edge Chair from Bernhart Design-
http://www.bernhardtdesign.com/seating/lounge/edge.html
List price-1551.00 for COM (Customers own material) requires 2.3 yards
So the sell price through a delaer would be about 920.00
plus the fabric of your selection, I sell textiles so you could get a beautiful fabric similar in wool 65.00-90.00 net per yard from may textile companies.
Approx. cost of chair 920.00
Budget for fabric 207.00 on the high side
Approx. cost 1127.00 per chair plus shipping and tax.
A much better deal for a similar and very high quailty chair. I do not have any affiliations with Bernhardt Design. I saw this chair today at a design firm and remembered seeing this photo of the one from Monument. I love Monument but so over priced.
I'd say 99.9% of the people on this web site are not Monument's target customer base... it's the super wealthy and their designers they are after. The web site they sell on, 1stdibs (that the above Jens Risom chair is on) is a great outlet for them and other high end design stores... they are not over priced to their customers...their customers have money and don't care about the price like us little people... but, when they are trying to make a sale they can offer a nice discount... so when they buy their items off Ebay or Craig's, fix it up and slap a super high price tag on it... the customer is more then happy if they knock 500 or so off the price... more power to them! It's a lot better then dealing with people on Craig's that bitch about your price... and knowing nothing about what you are selling. I do believe that Monument has been doing so well they are now are a chain, with two stores.
