Name: Jeremiah (3) & Mia (15 months)
Location: San Antonio, TX
Color Inspiration: During my second pregnancy, I was having major trouble committing to a color scheme that was both pleasing and would suit a boy and a girl equally well. Couple that with a gradual loss of income, and this room is what you get. It was when I decided to give up that this space started to speak for itself.
Color Inspiration continued: The deep blue accent wall had been previously painted, by me, while pregnant with my son, and the neutral bedding was purchased not long after. As far as the rest of the room? There's the obvious, a bed, bookshelf , and a crib. This is where things get really crazy... We let the toys do the talking. Any color goes in a room without the boundaries of a color scheme!
Tip for Using Color: I often found myself stressing over color options. Buy things you and your kids love and stop worrying so much about whether or not it "goes". Nine times out of ten, it will... Eventually.
Colors Used: For the blue wall, my pregnant self walked (waddled) up to the wall of paint chips, picked the richest blue that could be seen, and that was that. But a better question might be, what colors haven't been used?
Thanks for your colorful entry Deborah and good luck!

I love the bedding with the cars - where is it from?
What a great room! Where did you find that pillow with the orange dots? I've been looking for something like that forever!
Yet another great room--with actual children's things inside it! It looks like a ton of fun; I wish my kids had that much space.
robinm, the twin bedding is from dwell studios target line.
luby, the dotted pillow is also from target. ive been seeing it pop up quite a bit in this contest.
wrenx, thank you. :)
I love it!!! Wish you could go shopping with me and do my daughters room.
is that the ikea expedit modular shelving? if so, would love to know where you got the storage bins. i'm having a moment because they fit SO perfectly!
My son and daughter share a room and it was the hardest decorating task to come up with something that worked. Kuddos to you for a great job.
I love the play kitchen, where is it from? Also, love the room!
A real kids room! with reel toys!Thank you! This room might not be the most fashionable one, but I can picture kids in there, and not just for sleeping, not like the others ones aseptic catalog ones. It easy to do a all color match nursery, try to do that in a toddler room with toys, educative fun toys!
well done you! i love it! I love the colors and how it all ties together.
Hi, where is the bed from?
I'm seeing a trend where all the typical overdone rooms are getting a lot of votes - and the more realistic, simple rooms that kids can enjoy for years are being passed over.
This room is great - I'm sure feeling it! Good job and I love these types of rooms!
where do they keep the kids' clothes?
Love the mix of colored bins in the Expedit. And yay, Tubtrugs! :)
the shelving is ikeas expedit and the boxes are from targets itso line. :)
the closet holds all the kids clothes. its split two ways, top and bottom, with a couple of rods and shelves with containers for everything thats not on hangers.
thank you for everyones votes and sweet comments!
oh, and the bed is from west elm. they no longer carry that finish. i think it only comes in a deep chocolate wood and white now. :/
