- Inspiration for my palette:
- Our home is constantly changing. We're big fans of color but hate to commit to a bold wall color, only to change it months down the road. A neutral base with pops of color in the accessories is our go-to design strategy. We love how the ounces of yellows and greens bring so much life and energy into the room.
- Colors used in my room
- Wall Paint - Benjamin Moore Gray Husky
Door Paint - Valspar Santa Monica Blvd
Accessories in Mustard Yellows and Lime Greens.
- Tips for using color successfully
- Consider the room's purpose and how you want to feel in the space. For instance, bedrooms are meant to be calming and replenishing. So, chose a color that represents those feelings for you.

Love. Excellent.
The door painted on the inside...soooo good. For some reason, I've never considered this.
As a fellow entry I have to vote for you because this is excellent use of yellow, which I LOVE! That lamp is perfect and the door painted yellow too cute. The mix of patterns soo nice.I think this might be the best yet in your division and one of the best of all. Great Job!
Love the colour scheme. Gray and yellow with hints of navy is lovely!
House Tour PLEASE!! I LOVE the yellow and the grey together. I also LOVE the wood paneling wall where your TV, sheer beauty!!
I really like that this room doesn't adhere too much to any one style, but still pulls it all together fluidly. Maybe it's thanks to the salvagey wood wall, which looks killer.
I don't like the gray and yellow combination. But this room I like! It's serene and happy at the same time. Nicely done.
I really like the cheery and bright feeling this room gives off! Kudos! But shouldn't your color pallette be more grey, yellow and blue not grey, yellow and green? I'm seeing more blue then green. Still though..LOVE it! :)
The yellow and gray works well with the dark wood.
What is the yellow carpet source?
You have my vote for colors giving a very friendly and cheerful atmospher.
Now, you have to do something for me..finish the area where the wall and floor meet on each side of the front door. It appears to be unfinished....otherwise ,retake the picture for a 3/4 view of the beautiful yellow door.
Paint or cover the elect plates so they will get lost in the wood.
Did you repurpose the cabinet to hold the TV components? Very nicely done too.
Beautiful! I've seen that circles art everywhere. Anyone know where it's from?
Great room. I follow your blog and loved it when I saw the room tour.
Thanks Britwash,
The art is actually DIYed, but it's take on Jen's art from MadeByGirl. Her shop is Cocoa & Hearts. Worth checking out!

Looks like a Cincinnati winter sky to me, including the yellow touches that remind me of the brave yellow sun that tries to cheer up the atmosphere. Very nostalgic for me
SO beautiful! Love it!
Love the wall of reclaimed wood planks and it doesn't make the room too dark. Agree the grey is nice with the pops of accent color.
This room is sooo Young House Love, and in a lovely way too :)
Ahhh I love it! And right here in Cincinnati! Can I ask what neighborhood you're in?
Thanks for the comment Hello Kitty. The yellow rug is the Andalusia Rug from West Elm. Here's the link: http://www.westelm.com/products/andalusia-rug-r653/

Favorited for the contest. There are many elements I loved about this room.
These colors work great with the dark wood!
