- What I Love About My Small Home:
- Given NYC’s hustle-and-bustle (not to mention prices), it’s been difficult to find a place entirely my own where I can actually feel at home. I stumbled on this fixer-upper, and fell in love. Home to a built-in shelving unit/desk and massive closets with additional storage space above, this apartment is perfect for me. I wanted to get my love for all things beautiful across, but not overwhelm guests with femininity, and think I’ve succeeded. I’ve worked my pants off to create a place to come home to after long days working in utter craziness, my own little sanctuary.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- The biggest challenge of living in a small space is having a place designated for living and sleeping versus hosting guests, all sans wall to delineate the space. With the help of a patterned rug, favorite local artwork, and shelving, I’ve designed space specific to the important parts of my life: sleeping, working, reading, and having friends visit.

I love the duvet!!
Would be nice to create some sort of partition/division between the living and sleeping areas!!
Same bedding :) Love it!
The rug is awesome!
love, love, love it !!
Cute place! It's nice seeing an all-one-room studio and how you handled the challenge of making a room that doesn't just feel like a bedroom. I particularly like how you've combined the bolder (mola-inspired?) print of the reading-nook pillows with the other slightly more formal florals and couch--gives me some encouragement that I can marry those two sides of my own design personality as well :)
I waited so long for that comforter, and then it disappeared :-( You're home is amazing! Definitely not overwhelming with feminine.
I was loving this until I got to picture no. 4, which looks like it belongs in a different home. I like strong colours, but boy that's a lot of extreme pink. You still have my vote though, I love all the other pictures, I especially like how you've mixed so many patterns yet kept it light and clean looking.
This is so cute! Love the bedding! :)
I like that your apt is light and airy but it seems pretty easy to divide the space to create a bedroom nook; but maybe that is not what you want.
I love how spacious this feels considering how small it is.
Just curious, how do you handle dining? Sit on the sofa? Folding table?
i also wondered where you eat, and i agree with the bed/living separation comments -- airy curtains would create a symbolic separation without blocking light.
i love the reading nook, and i like the placement of the artwork -- i have no idea why i keep commenting on this issue but the placement above teh sofa and above the bed was the first thing i noticed. the living room area overhead lighting is nice as well.
i favorited but there are a couple things that make me a bit hesitant. the dark grey chairs look too dark and clunky for such a small space, i think you would really gain by substituting something with a less blocky shape even if you stuck with gray. i also think the pink walls feels a bit much because it's not echoed (in that tone) , at least as far as the pictures show.
Looks Great!
I think this may be one of my favorites
One of my favorites! I love that pop of pink, something I wish I was brave and/or talented enough to put in my space.
way to embrace the bed! i always advocate that in studios. is the pink wall tissue paper? i'm trying to understand the creases on it. i have four 8" mirrorballs and if i had that nook of yours, i'd string them vertically so they could dazzle sunlight through the space...
Loving the pink wall! You must love lying in bed and looking at it. What a mood elevator. It's tiny but it looks like a real home. No wonder you love it: great job!
This is adorable! I love the little sitting area. I'm not sure about the pink wall though. It looks kind of like tissue paper tacked up on the wall? I do love the pop of color though. Over all, it's super cute.
OMG is that a make-up area nearby the pink wall? I would love to have a cool mirror and space like that to do my makeup, nails, etc.
I especially love the window seat. This is livable in 336 square feet. The pink is a bit pink, but I'm a guy and Jessica is not, so pink it is.
It looked so roomy and spacious, and then I saw the square footage. Wow! What a great use of space.
Ohh, so nice to see mola patterned pillows. :) I'm from Panama, where the indigenous people make the molas...
Hard to believe this is only 336sq ft. Good Job!
Please tell me where you found a chevron rug that large??!!
It was the pink wall that won my heart!
love. love love love love. airy and simple, yet oozing personality. congratulations on making such a sweet little sanctuary for yourself.
Don't listen to the other posters. You do not need a division. Leave it alone.
Very cute. Do you mind if I ask where the bedding came from?
Those mola pillows are beautiful.
This whole thing is classy and CUTE.
Why does she need to divide her apartment? I think it looks pretty cool the way it is by incorporating the bed.
It is interesting to me how she has set up so many comfortable places to sit, from the window seat to the coach and chairs. Comfort is obviously a priority.
Nice use of textiles.
So adorable! Speaks to your personality without being overwhelming. Inspired to spend some time working on my own sanctuary as well. Thanks for sharing, great work!
love this! Stylish and cute without being cutesy. Love how you delineate the space.
Absolutely love this! Amazing what Can be done in such a small space.
Agree with commenters who don't think the space needs a divider. I love it the way it is. Lovely.
Love the use of textiles here and agree with others that there is no need for a divider since the color flow is so successful. (And I am unapologetically a pink girl too!) Well done!

You have done a great job!! the gray chairs are NOT too clunky at all! And I agree, no division is needed. And love the pink!!
You've done a fantastic job.
Just was tripped up by the pink. Hmm. But I'd guess i'd do the same with a number of blues, so...
I like how open this place is, and how the bed is not hidden.
