I live in a 2 bedroom Georgian flat in Edinburgh, built around 1890. The flat is 1200 square feet and I completely renovated and refurbished it in 2013 so that I could have it exactly the way I wanted it.

I’m an interior designer & I was drawn to the beautiful Georgian period details in the flat such as the original coving and fireplace in the sitting room as well as the layout of the apartment which is perfectly proportioned and set out as far as my requirements were concerned.

absolutely love colour and pattern and have used plenty throughout! The colour and pattern really lifts the rooms but has been carefully done so that it is refined and not overwhelming. I chose a Philip Jeffries grasscloth for my sitting room walls which is in a colour called “Blueberry”. It’s a gorgeous blue, not as dark as navy and not as bright as royal blue but somewhere in between. At night, with candles lit & lights dimmed, it looks very glamorous indeed.

I have a pink kitchen which is quite unusual – but I love it! I chose a shade which wasn’t too saccharine and teamed it with lots of white & black and polished nickel hardware so that it looks sleek. Of course it is feminine, but that’s OK – I like it that way.

Another indulgence is the master bedroom which is in a palette of blush pink, coral pink, white and caramel. It’s really soothing and restful and the pretty chinoiserie mural behind the bed was inspired by the beautiful de Gournay hand painted silk wallpapers. I designed the pattern and the delicate birds and butterflies are exquisite with touches of gold leaf to highlight them.

My priority for a home is to make it comfortable and welcoming so a lot of details which you don’t necessarily see (such as feather stuffed sofa cushions) mean that it feels very luxurious.
