We just love the trend of really earthy, natural elements that happen to feature not-so-boring natural neutrals: geodes and other jewel tones! There's just something so grounding about a color palette based around fun jewel tones and there are lots of fun home decor items that have been spotted sporting geode designs.
While you can always get too much of a good thing, it sometimes feels like you just can't go overboard when bringing in jewel tones into your space. All the colors coordinate so well together, work well with other colors and look good on a lot of different styles of furniture and tastes, from traditional to modern. And, because their ties are with nature, many who are a little hesitant around bold colors can often incorporate jewel tones without a lot of anxiety; they're like bold and calming at the same time.
Geodes and other fun geological elements bring such interest into a space. The actual geodes themselves bring a shiny, colorful pop into a room and immediately become the sort of thing guests want to pick up and explore. Recent years have seen these rocky items turned into all sorts of things like cheese plates, lamps, coasters, candle holders and more. And we're falling head over heels for some rugs in a geode pattern we've been spotting. So much fun! A few fun geode finds:
1) Design+Milk)&utm_content=Google+Reader">Studio Bijoux Etage Rug from Floor Jewels collection (via Design Milk, not sure if it's still available but we love it so much)
2) Rablab's Agate Candle Holders $110
3) Mother of Pearl Atelier Geode Rug $130
4) Agate Cheese Plates $60 - $75
5) Warm Glow Natural Coaster $6
What do you think about jewel tones and geodes? We had a few people say jewel tones are more of a fall season color, but we think they're year round. What do you think? Do you have any geode elements in your house or a good resource on where to find some? Let us know!
