Name: Joa Studholme
Location: West London
Size: 2500 square feet
Years lived in: 15
When Farrow & Ball recently invited us to the home of their color consultant, we jumped at the opportunity, it was the chance to visit a magician of color! Joa lives in this quirky nest with her husband and two teenage kids. We arrived just as they were about to leave for holiday and we experienced a family home in action with lists, ironing, packing and the excitement/chaos that a holiday brings. It was wonderful to experience the space in action — it was very clear this home is very bold, creative and styled, but also extremely comfortable and supportive of the family's needs.
Joa zoned the rooms beautifully with different floor colors and the transition from one room to another is striking and effective. She also managed to combine style and humor in a wonderfully refreshing way, with bold cheeky pieces of art displayed amongst classical pieces. There are so many ideas in this home that anyone can apply and we especially like the painted headboards. When asked, her face lights up and she adds, 'I can change it every week!'. This and so many other examples of her creative problem solving have made her a hit with clients and her headboard idea is extremely popular with boutique hotels in the UK. Joa is a passionate, creative soul with so much energy — it is not surprising she dreams of a world full of color. If Joa is the president of that world we want to live there too!

Oh my goodness, what a wonderful home! I absolutely love the counter-top with the built in dish drainer, as well as the vintage toolbox collection--although this is coming from someone who has a vintage toolbox for sale in her shop right now ;)

heavy sigh
Wow, love it all, but am SO distracted/unsettled by those legs on the shelf -- maybe because I just watched Jeremy Renner talk to an interviewer about playing Jeffrey Dahmer :-P
That first photo is amazing, with the blue sofa and all the colors in the background on the bookshelves. This is really bold color done right.
Though I want to reach in and straighten that black lampshade. Ha!
Just lovely.
This house is so charming and full of personality. Love it. It has a lot of stuff, but the way it's there just seems right and doesn't bother me at all. A little envious. Wish my house had this architecture. I guess I also like it, because it has plenty of art and just feels artsy.
Black and white floor is cool.
Oh my. I am overwhelmed with inspiration! Especially the living room--the blue sofa; the red sofa; the huge intriguing books under the coffeetable; the anatomical sculpture in the painted red bookshelf cubby; the strange thing in the base of the lamp. & I also like that stuff is a little askew (the lampshade, the slightly jostled looking vertical line of prints (?) on the wall)--Almost as though a wind blew through the house. I like the tousle in this decor....(at least, in theory....in real life, my fingers would be itching to straighten that lampshade!)
What is the lovely green/grey color used in the stairwell & hallway with the red bench?
I ADORE the tall bookshelves!!!! :)

Love, love, love the kitchen!
I love, love, love that blue sofa! That color is unreal!
this house is amazing!!
This is absolutely my favourite house tour ever
DREAM HOUSE! So great.
This may be my favorite house tour ever. Love that it looks like a place that's used to the fullest and truly loved. No wonder she's a color consultant--the woman's got an eye!
Fabulous house. Such vibrant colours and a fun mix of pieces!
May I ask, where did you find the black-shaded lamp in the first picture where the base is a glass-enclosed bust? I really like it.
Oh FANTASTIC!! What a creative and inspiring home! I'm in love! I'm also curious about those mannequin legs...or knees, rather. Were they once whole legs? Where does one find mannequin knees?
Wow, how cool can one place get? Every pic just got better. Instead of edit, edit, edit this place was more, more, more- I love it!!
That is the sofa of my dreams! Where could I find one in the US?
This a singular home, it's full of surprises for the eyes. Congratulations Joa!
Only a little question: where can i find the Robert Indiana's letters of love?
Thanks in advance
Love it - London style is where it's at!! Am just down the road in Kent so I second that question about the black lamp with the glass base - is is still available somewhere? I need it!!
what a wonderful home full of surprises and beautiful furniture. I loved the tool boxes, great idea and use.
emwalrath - you can create a similar sofa I don't know where you live you could find a custom sofa shop and have one made.
I am working on having one made with some changes to my liking, look through here they do great work and the prices are reasonable

just search velvets and color lots of options.
This apartment makes me swoon. Every inch of it I'm in love with. The Demoiselles d'Avignon print over the mantle really did me in though.
What a neat space!
There may, at some point in the future, be a home tour I love more than this one. But I doubt it. Spectacular use of color and shape.
And it proves something I'm always nattering on about, that Too Many Books can work in a space, when the books are displayed with love. Must have the bamboo library ladder!
I loved it all but especially the colorful toolboxes!!! Where did you find them?
Is that a zinc-topped table? If so, it is custom-made?
