When I bought the apartment, I gutted it, broke down walls and exposed brick, and then rebuilt every part of the apartment from scratch with my boyfriend (well, we hired people to do the hard work). That means every inch of space is covered in things we love and have collected from the six continents we've visited together. It's very homey.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
Define your spaces. I've got a living room / kitchen / office, a bedroom / reading room / loft, a mud room (not pictured - sorry!), etc. I could probably even squeeze a couple of more spaces if I tried.
I love built-ins. If we had used furniture for everything instead, the space would feel very cluttered.
Plants are awesome. No matter the home, I think plants make it feel larger - part of something - and give a great natural feel.
