Jonathan Adler Decorating Barbie's Malibu Dream House

Word is spreading that Jonathan Adler is about to realize every girl's dream and is going to be "updating Barbie’s bedroom, living room, and...her drool-worthy closet, in an actual Malibu beach house, which will serve as the backdrop to the doll’s 50th blowout bash on March 9." Okay, we admit we also liked playing with Barbie doll houses, but only when we were allowed to invite He-Man and G.I. Joe for dinner parties. A “Jonathan Adler Loves Barbie” collection is scheduled for a fall release, with each doll coming with Adler designed furniture.

We're wondering if J. Adler himself ever saw the fantastic Adler-Inspired Barbie Dioramas .

Thanks SO MUCH for the shout out to my Jonathan Adler doll dioramas--and I must confess, I did email his publicist the weblink when I first posted online, and he was SO SWEET he sent me a pair of LOVE/HATE & ANGER/JOY apothecary ceramic mugs as a thank you!

I dare hope I may have inspired him to hook up with Mattel for the official collection he is launching, but he already had done some dollhouse accessories (the fluted gourd vases in my pics) for the famous Bozart Kaleidoscope dollhouse several years ago.

But I do hope to snatch up the Barbie Loves Jonathan Adler doll furniture as soon as I can lay my little hands on them. Until then, I'm continuing to make my own miniatures of his fabulous pillows and dishes that will be featured in the May/June issue of Haute Doll Magazine (www.hautedoll.com).

When I was a little girl I snuck into my sister's room with a permanent marker and turned her Barbie Dream House into a haunted house (spider webs, ghosts in the windows, etc.). Perhaps if I bought her this new JA house, she'd finally forgive me after all these years!
