Wow, quite a profit margin on Jono's pieces. Actually makes Jonathan Adler prices seem reasonable (especially on sale).
Adler also works with Aid to Artisans, a non-profit organization which helps artisans in developing countries such as Peru by providing economically sustainable and social benefits in an environmentally and culturally sensitive manner.
My assumption from the manufacturing costs is that Jono's pieces are made in China by workers who are not enjoying such benefits. With huge profit margins, it seems reasonable to expect Jono to ensure the people making his products are sharing in the 'wealth'.
One of my favorite places in NYC to buy pottery is Access Artisans at 22 Greenwich Ave. They have a wonderful selection of vases made locally.
