The Bone Chair by Joris Laarman
More pics from our trip to MoMA yesterday below the jump...
If evolution could create a chair...
Trees have the ability to add material where strength it is needed. But bones also have the ability to take away material where it is not needed.

Ummm where is the cushion?
Its creepy, macabre, and completely lovely. It needs to be in a rock musician's home and showcased amongst ultra modern steel cabinetry, parsons tables, and sleek supple black leather couches.
I'd buy it.
I love.
I like it because it's different and takes a new approach to designing a chair. For that I respect the vision. IMO a welcomed change and hopefully will spark some new innovations.
I think it's beautifully rendered.
Unique, intriguing and so very different from the current
"De Riguer" tyranny of Mid-Century Modern design.
Rerfreshing, indeed!
Thanks so much for the post.
Wasn't that chair on the cover of a YES album?

Everyone who says that flipping awesome chair is "not hot" is wrong.
Hmmm. Like something out of David Lynch's version of DUNE (always my smart-aleck response for something out-of-this-world-weird but strangely beautiful at the same time).
It needs to have a table, side table, etc.... Would be great on a porch.
