What I Love About My Small Home:
When I first walked in the door to look at my apartment I fell in love with the charm. The exposed brick, wood paneling and exposed ceiling beams for starters. Once I realized I had the entire roof deck to myself I just had to have it. Being a country boy transplanted to NYC, I realized I could still get fresh air while being in the heart of the West Village.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
Being overwhelmed by the charm and vibe of my apartment, I overlooked the fact that it had no closet. I was fast to come up with a solution. I used the stairwell and installed two hanging rods for storage, using a handle similar to those seen in clothing stores to get my things off the rod. I also use rollers underneath my bed. Another trick of mine is alternating wardrobes from winter to summer clothes, taking them back and forth to my parents' house on Long Island, as the seasons change. This enables everything to fit.
