Uptown - Dallas, Texas
As a recent college graduate, I have a limited budget to work with. I have found most of my furnishings at thrift stores, salvation army, etc. I always enjoy fixing up and bringing new life to my pieces, by giving it new upholstery, and a new coat of paint or stain.
My apartment is full of projects I've done myself, from building the upholstered headboard, to building the planter on my patio. While my main inspiration is mid-century modern, I always enjoy having a mix of pieces to create a nice timeless style.
As a graphic designer, almost all of the artwork on the walls is my own. What I like most about my home is that every piece has a story to be told. When looking for an apartment, I knew I wanted an older apartment that had character to complement my growing collection of retro furniture. Since I'm not allowed to paint the walls, I like to use bright colors and bold patterns. Upstairs in the bedroom, I stuck with mostly black and white colors for a more tranquil feel.
