My friend Jonathan recently showcased what a difference a little faux bois contact paper can make when applied to a common IKEA desk. Others have even applied it to their large kitchen appliance. Same idea here, just on a smaller scale, creating a wood grain laptop skin...

The wood grain laptop skin project by JosieFeather over at Instructables outlines an easy to follow and extremely affordable project for those looking for a nature themed laptop.
Here's what you'll need:
- Wood grain Contact paper
- X-acto knife
- Scissors
- Tracing paper
- Self-healing cutting board
This project is especially useful for anyone who has a laptop with scratches, dings, or other cosmetic damages on the exterior. And the best thing is contact paper is readily available at dollar stores, drug stores, big chain stores such as Target and KMart, and hardware stores.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Does anyone happen to know where I would get this type of contact paper?
you can get some versions of woodgrain contact paper at a local home improvement store like Home Depot. There are fancy versions online from various websites in a multitude of different woods, but in a pinch Home Depot has it.
I have a roll for random projects. When I was bored I skinned the front of my brother-in-laws white xbox360 with the wood when he wasn't looking. It's still on there and looks quite snazzy.
