Julia's Reading Corner

Melissa has a passion for children's books and has passed on this love to her daughter, Julia. She figured it was high time she create a cozy environment for Julia to read at home. She shares: I write a blog children's books and you know that saying about the 'cobbler's children having no shoes'? Well recently I came to the very important realization that my daughter Julia's bookcase needed to be...ACTUALLY IN HER ROOM. It had been in her closet for four years! I wanted a cozy space where she could actually see her books and be able to pull them out easily within arm's reach of her reading chair. In addition to the bookcase, we've got the 'Library Box' right next to it, as well as the 'Paperback Book Box' -- apparently having a bookcase still hasn't been successful in keeping our book collection under control!

Julia's collection of special treasures and knickknacks is also in the bookcase, and we framed and hung art that she made on the wall. I really wanted to make the space representative of her spirit and her interests!

The book corner is right behind her bed, so the area is semi-sequestered away from the rest of the room -- it's such a thrill for me to see Julia in her little book corner happily flipping through her books, many of which are the very same ones I read as a child.

Thanks Melissa! Readers, visit Melissa on her book-focused blog, Julia's Bookbag.
