What I Love About My Small Home:
My home is the perfect size for a live/work, solo artist space. I have designed it such that I wake up surrounded by my imagery and mind-escapes that motivate the creative process. I wake up, make coffee, tea, do yoga, and set to work at the long work tables against the window. In the evening I can entertain friends and show curators, interior designers, and art directors my work in my small kitchen area.

I love that I can only collect and house what is most necessary -- nothing beyond the art, the basics, and the small items I have accumulated through my travels and from friends that mean the most.
Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
My biggest challenge is to not clutter the space, to maintain it's clean, yet antique feel.
When I moved in, I decided to only buy the necessary furniture for sleeping, working, and hosting. To keep the floor space open, I bought shelves and a single hutch instead of table tops to store dishes, food, supplies, etc.
I am careful to neither acquire too much, nor to fill the small space with nonessential items that create extra weight, visually, spatially, and figuratively.
If I am the Grand Prize winner of Small Cool, the item(s) or project(s) from my home design wishlist that I'd like to spend my winnings on are:
If I were to win, I would start purchasing local, contemporary artworks so that I could grow my small collection and truly support the artists who create work that evokes real, personal meaning.

I would also like to infuse my home with more plant-life -- a small indoor garden of herbs, succulents, and hanging plants.
