June Is All About the Outdoors

June Is All About the Outdoors

It's time to think about outdoor living, which in Chicago is all too fleeting - making it worth any extra effort to enjoy it while it lasts.

We'll be blogging gardening, outdoor furniture for the patio, porch and balcony, goods for picnics, al fresco entertaining and whatever else we can think of for that big extra room of your home that we all aquire around this time of year, outside.

We were just reminiscing this past weekend on that refrain of moms everywhere during summer vacation and we urge you to do as they ask: "Go out and play!"

The photo above is from one of our favorite sites, one full of info and inspiration for novice (and experienced) gardeners, You Grow Girl. It's worth a look if you have anything from a container garden to a windowbox to a big backyard to beautify or grow some veggies in.

As regular AT: Chicago readers know, we recently completed a search for new members of our team to help us blog ways to make our homes more beautiful, organized and healthy. We are very happy to announce that both Jessica Bartlett and Sarah Coffey are joining us. At the moment, they are busy behind the scenes getting ready and we can all look forward to posts from the two of them starting next week. Can't wait!

Also on AT this week: a new national search is underway for an editor (or two) to blog all things green. If you (or someone you know) might be interested in sharing all you know and will discover about eco-living please check out this post and get in touch - the deadline is this Wednesday, June 6th.

Finally, please send us photos of your outside space, or tag them with "apartmenttherapychicago". Questions, ideas, tips and comments on outdoor living are always welcome too.
